An Honours Graduate of the University of Sussex with an Advanced Diploma in the Education of Children with Special Educational needs, she has taught in Mainstream and Special Schools. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Methodist Church. She has served on West Sussex County Council since 1985 and the Town Council since 1995.
